#Chai ( Indian Tea infused with basic flavours)

This Chai (Tea) is a kind of refreshing hot drink which is consumed all over in India. People love to have it in morning or evening or even in between their work to refresh themselves. Classic method I have specified here, but later on it has been modified as ' Masala Chai ' where few more spices are infused into the classic method. I have specified the modification also at the end of the recipe. I would recommend you to get a good quality of Indian tea powder from the store to enjoy the flavour in each sip. Lets get into the recipe😄😄

Serves :- 2- 3 people
Preparation time :- 5 mins
Cooking time :- 10 mins
Measurements :- in grams and in spoons

*tbsp - Tablespoon
*tsp   - Teaspoon

Ingredients

  1. Indian Black Tea Powder  - 1¼  tbsp
  2. Milk       - 1 cup / 240 ml
  3. Water     - 1 cup  / 240 ml
  4. Cardamon    - 5 pieces (Whole)
  5. Ginger         - 2 inch piece ( fresh)
  6. Sugar           - as per taste

Method

  1. In a sauce pan add water and bring it to boil. Then add the tea powder, grated ginger and cardamon. Make sure that you split the cardamon slightly before you drop inside. 
  2. Allow it boil in medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Then add milk and bring it boil in high heat.
  3. Then slow down the heat and allow the milk & tea mixture to boil for 1 minute. 
  4. Now strain this tea with the use of a filter in a cup. Add sugar according to your taste and enjoy it with your favourite snack or as it is.

Tip

  1. The basic measurement for a cup of tea is = ½ water + ½ milk + ½ tbsp tea powder + ½ tbsp sugar.  
  2. For masala chai when the water is boiling add 2 pieces of cloves and small piece of cinnamon sticks along with ginger and cardamon. 
  3. The amount of tea powder and spices can be reduced or increased according to your taste.
