#Pepper Chicken Curry

A very simple and delicious curry which could be accompanied with hot rice or roti. All you need are few ingredients and it can be prepared in few minutes. You could use any part of chicken pieces for this recipe. I have used chicken thighs because it cooks faster. Let get into my version of the recipe... 😊

Serves :- 2-3 people
Preparation time :- 15 mins
Cooking time :- 15-25 mins
Measurements :- in grams and in spoons

*tbsp - Tablespoon
*tsp   - Teaspoon

Ingredients

  1. Chicken - 400 to 500 grams ( any part of chicken )
  2. Onion - 2 medium sized
  3. Tomato - 3 medium sized
  4. Ginger chopped - ½ tbsp
  5. Garlic chopped - ½ tbsp
  6. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  7. Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  8. Cinnamon stick - 1 inch piece
  9. Cardamom and Cloves - 2 each
  10. Black pepper powder - ½ tbsp (or less)
  11. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  12. Oil - 1 tbsp
  13. Salt - as per taste
  14. Fresh coriander leaves - few

Method

  1. Wash the chicken and cut into pieces like how you prefer.
  2. Chop the onion, tomato, garlic and ginger finely. If you like to make tomato pure instead of cutting it is also fine.
  3. In a pot/pan add oil and heat them up in a medium heat. Add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon stick and cumin seeds.
  4. Next add the onion, ginger and garlic. Saute them well until onions turns light brown color.
  5. Then add the chopped tomatoes / puree, mix them well. Also add turmeric powder, coriander powder and 2 tsp of salt. Mix them well and allow it to cook for 2 minutes. When they are cooked the oil floats on top slightly.
  6. Next add the chicken and sauté them for 2 minutes. Then add ½ cup water and salt as per your taste. Give a mix and close the pot / pan.
  7. Cook them for about 15 minutes in medium heat or until the chicken is well cooked. Keep mixing the chicken in between so that it will not stick to the bottom of the pan/pot.
  8. Once the chicken is cooked, sprinkle the pepper powder and chopped coriander leaves on top and give a mix. You could add more pepper if you like or reduce the pepper amount as per you wish. That is it your curry is ready.

Note:- I have used pureed tomatoes for this recipe. So when you use chopped tomatoes then there will be a change in the consistency of the curry. It may not look as it is in the picture which is posted above.

Enjoy your meal with your own choice of rice or roti.....😋
