#Peppered White Radish

The white Radish is the least liked vegetable for my husband and son. I was thinking something different with new taste to make this to eat this vegetable. That is the result of this new recipe. It is not that spicy as mentioned in the title because my son do not eat spicy food. Hope you will also like it. Lets go....😊


Serves :- 3-4 people
Preparation time :- 20 mins
Cooking time :- 20 mins
Measurements :- in grams and in spoons

*tbsp - Tablespoon
*tsp   - Teaspoon




Ingredients

For dry roast
  1. Uradh dhal(*)    - 1 tbsp (optional)
  2. Corriander seeds   - ¼ tbsp 
  3. Pepper seeds    - ½ tbsp
  4. Red chillies   - 1 or 2 (optional)
For stir fry
  1. Onion   - 1 medium sized
  2. Garlic   -  2 cloves
  3. Tomato  - 1 medium sized
  4. White Radish  -  500 grams 
  5. Mustard seeds  - ½ tsp
  6. Cumin seeds  - ½ tsp
  7. Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  8. Oil   - 3 tbsp
  9. Curry leaves(*)  - few
  10. Hing(*)   - a pinch (optional)
  11. Salt   - 1 and ½ tsp

Method
  1. First in a pan add all the items which are specified in the dry roast section. After dry roasting transfer it into a mixer jar and grind it into a fine powder. If you don't have mixer then you can also powdered it using mortar and pestle or smash it with a rolling pin into a coarse powder.
  2. Next in the same pan add oil, allow it get heated. Then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and hing. Then add finely chopped onion and garlic. Saute them well until onions turns translucent. 
  3. Then add finely chopped tomatoes, add salt and turmeric powder. Saute them until tomatoes are cooked. Then add the radish and saute them well. Now close the pan with a lid and cook them on a medium to low flame. Do not add water. If feel like adding water just add 2 handful sprinkles of water. 
  4. Once all the vegetables are cooked and dry, now add the roasted powder and cook  them for 3 minutes and its done.
Tips
  1. You can reduce or increase the amount of pepper seeds and chillies according to your spice level. 
  2. The ingredients marked (*) are available only in Indian stores, if you are not living in India. 
  3. You can use the same recipe using other vegetables like Potatoes or Cauliflower or Broccoli or other vegetables of your choice.
